Markus ‘Notch’ PerssonFour years ago when Markus ‘Notch’ Persson started working on a solo project, he had no idea of the impact it would have on the gaming industry. Since its release to the public in May 2009, Minecraft has grown into one of the most popular games currently.

The original game project that Notch started with was ‘RubyDung’ and it was to be the base for building Minecraft. Indeed, available snapshots of the original game tell it all; the origins of Minecraft are clearly visible and, in fact, the RubyDung screenshots can easily be mistaken for the original version of Minecraft. The Magical Allure of Minecraft

Sandstone ChurchToday I woke up and asked myself the question, “What is the ‘lure’ of Minecraft, and why are so many people addicted to it?” I can spend an entire day building a skyscraper in Minecraft, or exploring a never-ending mineshaft. If I make an awesome pickaxe in my enchantment room, good luck trying to get me to do anything else for the rest of the afternoon! I know I’m not the only person out there sucked in by this mind-blowingly addicting game. For me, I’ve summarized my addiction down to three things: being able to create truly amazing things (even though I am a non-creative person in real life), seeing the beauty that can be found on the many random adventures I find myself taking, and to be truly honest…I just REALLY love mining!

You take what is in front of you, you gather it and craft it to build what you want. You can make the game look as you want it and build it as fancy as you’d like.
